Although most part of Dali prefecture has ushered in the period of spring ploughing, for the Baiyi people of the Yi nation branch in Kua’e mountain, only after the annual Kua’e’s Mixi festival, can the busy farming season be counted as officially coming.Mixi festival is a day for the Baiyi people who live in the mountain area of Kua’e for generations to sacrifice their gods. It is also an annual folk festival for the Baiyi people. Every year, from 13th to 15th of the third lunar month, Baiyi people in the area of Kua’e mountain gather in the main temple of Mixi to sacrifice to the god, dance, sing folk songs so as to celebrate the grand gathering of Mixi.Clothes made of fire grass (Gerbera delavayi Franch) are the most ceremonious costume of Baiyi people in such a largescale gathering. The costume is a Chinese-style long gown. After matching with headscarf, belt, and suede bag, the overall style is very elegant and flexible with tight waist and long split.
