Fengyu has always been known as the “Hometown of Scholars” and is one of the fifth batch
of “Famous Historical and Cultural Towns in China”. Its beautiful scenery made Xu Xiake, the
famous travel writer and geographer of the Ming dynasty, wrote in the eighth piece of his travel
diaries about Yunnan. It is in this old Bai village described by such a prominent travel writer that
superb inkstones such as “Millennium inkstone” and “Nine Dragons inkstone” are made.
